After the success of the first SuperPod we decided we just had to do it again! It took a while to come up with a plan (blame having a baby) but we finally arranged to broadcast from The Social in Southampton on 7th/8th March 2020, the weekend prior to Sport Relief.
SuperPod 2020 was a 2 day podcast festival with a sporting twist, in line with the charity we raised money for, but also featured comedy shows and sporting versions of some of the shows that appeared back in 2017.
We had appearances from old friends The Dredgeland Podcast Spectacular, Legend in My Sparetime, The Dead Piett Society and The AhhGee Podcast. Plus Due South by South East & The Doctor Squee Show (both from the host of Gallifrey Stands) appeared too.
Joining these familiar voices was sports related shows SportSpiel, First & Ten and Anything But Footy. Plus other great shows such as The Movie Bunker Podcast, How Not To Be An Idiot, Unclassical and What’s Your Favourite?
Plus there was our headline acts. On Saturday it was The Football Book Club, who discussed Danny Higginbotham’s autobiography. They were supported by SportSpiel with guest Eilidh McIntyre. And on Sunday it was Life Goals with Theo Delaney with guest Carl Anka, supported by Dredgeland.
It was a wonderful weekend, and while we didn’t sell as many tickets as we had hoped there was a really good energy about the event and we raised over £500 for Sport Relief.
